Following the success of last year’s Channel 5 series Wonders of the Moon with Dara Ó Briain, the comedian, author, amateur astronomer and astrophotographer is set to explore space once again, this time focusing on the Moon’s fiery cousin, the Sun, in a new 2 x 60’ series co-produced by BBC Studios Science Unit and Krempelwood – Wonders of the Sun with Dara Ó Briain. This two-part series for Channel 5 will see Dara Ó Briain embark on another journey of discovery, this time exploring our relationship with the Sun.

The commission is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2018, Michael Palin in North Korea, which reached 4.5m viewers and was nominated for two BAFTAs. Working with the same crew as in North Korea this new series promises an extraordinary view of a place, nearly 20 years after The Iraq War. A place we have really only seen via news reports. This will be the real Iraq.

Comedy Central UK today announced that it has greenlit three new shows, including female-fronted discussion show Yesterday, Today & The Day Before from Rumpus Media, as well as comedic panel show The Complaints Department and quiz format Fact Off (w/t), both from Monkey. All three series will air on Comedy Central UK this year.

Channel 5 has announced today it has greenlit ‘Motorhoming with Merton & Webster’ (wt). The 6 x 60’ series will be co-produced by Curve Media and Motion Content Group. Charlie Bunce will be serving as Exec Producer for Curve with Martin Oxley for Motion Content Group. The series was ordered by commissioning Editor Kit Morey.

Channel 5 today announced that it has ordered 20 x 60’ episodes from Renegade Pictures of the 2020 breakout hit Our Yorkshire Farm. The commission forms part of a new two-year deal secured by Wolfsong Media who are the agent for Our Yorkshire Farm’s shepherdess, Amanda Owen.

Channel 5 today announced two new commissions with the working titles Nick Knowles: Your Life On Your Lawn and Nick Knowles’ Home Improvements. Both series will be helmed by one of Britain’s most loved TV presenters, Nick Knowles, marking his first appearances on Channel 5.
